注意:每一枚硬币或纸币的正面都印有“In God We Trust”我们相信上帝,背面是拉丁文E pluribus unum,译为Out of Many, One,合众为一。
Name we can say or
$1.00 (one-)dollar bill a one one dollar
$5.00 five-dollar bill a five five dollars
$10.00 ten-dollar bill a ten ten dollars
$20.00 twnety-dollar bill a twenty twenty dollars
$50.00 fifty-dollar bill a fifty fifty dollars
$100.00 (one-)hundred dollar bill a hundred one hundred dollars
$1.30: a dollar and thirty cents/ a dollar thirty
$2.50: two dollars and fifty cents/two fifty
$56.49: fifty-six dollars and forty-nine cents/fifty-six forty-nine
Dialogue 1:
Can you break a twenty-dollar bill?
Jackie has a 20-dollar bill and wants to break it so that she may have some smaller bills and change for the laundry.
Cashier: How can I help you, Miss?
Jackie: Could you break a 20 for me?
Cashier: Sure. How do you want it?
Jackie: Could I have two 5's and the rest in ones?
Cashier: Well, I have some 5's, but I don't have enough 1's. Are quarters fine with you?
Jackie: Oh, that's even better! In that case, I won't have to worry about the small change for the laundry. (quarter
Cashier: Here you go!
Jackie: Thanks a million!
Dialogue 2:
Michaela: Do you have change for a dollar? (记住这个表达,do you have change for +钱)
Brian: Yes, you're in luck. I do have some. What do you need it for?
Michaela: I need some change for the bus.
Brian: How do you want it?
Michaela: I need a couple of quarters and five dimes.
